 Silent Tears

Through the stillness of the night

I see a child...a wounded soul

The terror and the pain caused by mere men

Has grown from agony into strength

As horrific as the past has been

Healing comes from those who believe

Never doubt a child who cries for help

Don't call them a bluff or liars

You can take away toys, candy or homes

But don't allow your mind to doubt their words

Memories might often be overlooked

Evidence might be misplaced

Abusers might often go free

But the words that dare to make their way out

Are true statements from a silent heart

You can look the other way

Yet the truth remains the same

Devastated souls have a way of finding one another

Through silent tears and whispers a connection is made

You know as well as I...that survivors don't lie

It's the dead silence that keeps us apart

If we reach out and speak up

The silence will not prevail

And a tower of mighty voices will conquer the pain

 Kindness is not a crime

Your words of acrimony polute my mind

People like you have no shame of being unkind

You maddening habits are vile and cruel

Yet you want to win, you want to rule

Control the weak and watch them fall

You inflict pain and make your call

Laughting at your own racy joke

You hand me a broken rope

Pretending to sincerely guide me

Don't you think I can see

I've fallen many times before

I know every false hope you have in store

Let it go and go your own way

Why is it so wrong that I wish to stay

Is it your abode, your sacred ground

I merely whisper my words without a sound

Are you jealous of me for what you cannot do

We are all gifted there is even room for you

It's time you practice what you preach

If you cease the hatred perhaps you could teach

You have proven that age has no hold on hate

Please leave me alone...for god's sake

It's time to grow up and learn to be kind

Sharing is caring..it brings hope to mankind

Don't you think it's finally time..

Kindness is not a crime

 Coats for Tots

It's Winter time again! I was not going to do this project this year but.....today I was reminded of how desperately some children need a jacket or a coat!

We went to the hospital to take care of some paperwork and there in the hallway was a tiny girl about 4 and she was shivering, her lower lip was quivering and she looked so tired and scared. Cps had her there and they were bringing her a small jacket and a blanket.

I thought back of a time when I felt as cold as that baby girl and I decided to continue with our coat for tots project.

I've selected 10 children. Ages 12 to 9 months that I know personally that need jackets, blankets or warm clothes. The donations can be used items (as long as they are presentable) and warm.

Please contact me if you'd like to participate in this project.

I might not be around until Friday but I'm doing my part to find out the sizes for these children.

Thanks to all of those who contributed last year! You are such a blessing and have a heart of gold! Thanks again!

 The Lost Boy

The sequel to Pelzer's autobiography of an abusive childhood, THE LOST BOY follows Pelzer through the California foster care system.

Here he tells his story from the time he left his abusive mother and alcoholic father, through his experiences in five foster homes and juvenile detention, and how he eventually made it into the Air Force.

Pelzer was a defiant a rebellious boy who, despite his background and personality, managed to show his true heart condition to many guardians, social workers, and teachers. I enjoyed the way he describes life in foster homes, because it isn't always a pretty picture as many would like to believe. There is always a rebel, a mean or unkind heart that will spoil everything the foster parents are trying to inculcate into foster children's hearts.

In this book his journey back was written in an honest manner yet he was never bitter, and his story will find those who can sympathize with him and those who have endured such expirences while growing up in the system.

I enjoyed reading this book but also felt he left many questions unanswered.

I am sure this book will be used over and over again in many college classes; and by those who are searching for their own healing.

The book is as great as his other books and brings light to the world that many travel but few talk about in their adult years.

Thanks Dave
